Fratelli’s Pizza-rant is located on River Highway, next to the new Harris Teeter, and has everything you imagine a traditional Italian eatery would. The atmosphere is family-friendly, with no smoking. Wooden tables and booths line the walls, and brightly colored paintings finish the décor.

As you enter, you are greeted and told to seat yourself anywhere you like. A limited menu is already placed on the table, but a more extensive one is available upon request and definitely worth a look.

The menu consists of typical appetizers, such as mozzarella sticks, and entrees that include pasta, pizza, subs, soup and salad. The pizza menu includes traditional slices such as cheese or supreme, and more specialty pies, like Hawaiian pineapple and ham or the one I ordered, the “white” pizza, with ricotta, mozzarella and garlic. Pasta dishes included three types of parmigiana, lasagna and ravioli, some of which were included on the children’s menu in smaller portions.

In addition to the pizza, I ordered a side of cheesy garlic bread, giving in to my craving for carbohydrates and thinking that the personal pan of pizza would be small. I was wrong. The personal pan can definitely be split among two people, as can the side order of bread. Each came out warm and delicious. The bread was coated in butter, garlic, mozzarella cheese and scallions and was the size of half a small loaf of French bread. In other words, leave your diet behind and enjoy.

The pizza was a thinner crust, appeared to be hand-tossed and had enough cheese to satisfy any dairy lover.

For dessert, I tried the cannoli — a piece of heaven wrapped in a crispy crust. The creamy filling was dotted with chocolate chips and I scraped every bite from the plate like it was my last meal.

Almost every dish was under $10, most being about eight dollars. The desserts were priced around $5. The restaurant also serves wine and beer.
