James R Loftin, Division Captain for Division 17 of the United States Guard Auxiliary recently presented Phil Jones, Flotilla Captain of Lake Norman Flotilla 17-8, with the Ships Wheel award for 2007. 

The wheel is a “floating” award, and is given each year to the flotilla which has served the most volunteer hours. Division 17 consists of Flotilla 17-3 of Lake Hickory, Flotillas 17-5 of Lake Wylie, Divisions 17-6 and 17-8 of Lake Norman, and a newly formed detachment on Lake Lure.
